1997 T-Z R
3COM BIGPICTURE TV PHONE - 1997.
A web cam with a difference! Early models used a standard
ball-shaped camera and included a video card to be installed in your
PC. Using the camera and the included equipment, owners could
talk to and see others who had the same device installed. Between 2-15 frames per second depending upon quality of image selected.
Original MSRP about $200. The model 2484 shown above (second row)
does not require an additional video card. 3Com
Corporation was a digital electronics manufacturer founded in 1979
by Robert Metcalfe, Howard Charney, Bruce Borden, and Greg
Shaw. 3Com was a contraction of "Computer Communication
Compatibility." In 2009
3Com was acquired by Hewlett-Packard. We believe we are the first digital camera
history web site to provide a photo and information concerning this
camera.
