STILL VIDEO CAMERA LIST.
Still video cameras are film-less, but not digital. They are
analog electronic cameras that record and store images in a manner
similar to analog video cameras did before digital came along.
The main difference other than being designed to take still photos was
that they usually stored images on some type of floppy disk rather than
video tape. The first demonstrated still video camera was the
Sony Mavica of 1981. The last marketed still video camera was the
Kyocera DA-1 of 1996. All electronic cameras since then have been
digital.
Dennis van Hall compiled a list of still video
cameras which appears below and on his web site at : https://www.digitalkameramuseum.de/en/esvc .
If you click on that URL you will go directly to Dennis' list which
contains detailed information on each still video camera. If
using our web site, it is easiest to use our FINDER page as our dates
and Dennis' dates are not always the same. In addition, we have
added eight more cameras to the bottom of the list that we believe
qualify as still video cameras. They can be found on our site
through use of our FINDER page or by going to the year page we have listed
with each camera.
